Shipping to United States: $5.95

This vintage Kent scout-style pen knife features yellowed celluloid handles with a shimmering mother-of-pearl effect, paired with two carbon steel blades and a built-in bail for keychain or pocket carry. It carries a shield-shaped inset and is tang-stamped "KENT / N.Y. CITY," denoting manufacture by Imperial during the mid-20th century.

Kent knives were widely distributed as budget-friendly tools, often given away or sold through hardware stores and five-and-dime counters. Though inexpensive, many have stood the test of time and are appreciated today for their nostalgic styling and historical charm.

Condition Notes:
Both blades open and close well, with some light surface wear, aging, and minor patina as expected for its era. The handles remain tight, though there is a visible hairline crack near the front pin on the shield side. The finish has aged to a creamy tone with minor scuffs and pocket wear. Bail loop is intact. A survivor with honest character.

Historical Note:
The Kent brand was a secondary line used by Imperial in the mid-1900s to produce affordable knives for mass-market retailers. While not high-end at the time, these knives were reliable and widely used — part of America’s working pocket for decades. They’ve since gained vintage charm and entry-level collector interest, especially in good condition.

Collector’s Note:
Kent knives offer an accessible gateway into vintage knife collecting. Their colorful handles, badge shields, and approachable price points make them fun to collect and display. This example retains a lot of that original visual appeal despite a few cosmetic flaws — a genuine piece of mid-century Americana.
