This knife is in excellent vintage condition with clean, factory-sharp blades and little to no signs of use. The etch on the clip point blade is bold and crisp. Snap is strong across all blades. The jigged bone handles are in great shape—rich color and secure with no chips or cracks. Bolsters show only minimal storage wear. A very collectible example from a short-lived and desirable production run.
History Note:
George Wostenholm’s IXL brand has been synonymous with Sheffield quality since the early 1800s. In the late 20th century, Schrade briefly partnered with the Wostenholm name to produce high-grade traditional pocket knives in England under the IXL Schrade line. These knives—made with Sheffield steel and finished to high standards—are now increasingly rare, as the collaboration was short-lived and limited in quantity.
Collector’s Note:
This I*XL Schrade HT62 stockman is a prime example of international knife making at its best—British steel, American branding, and timeless working-class design. Its robust bone handles, pristine blade etch, and rare Sheffield tang stamp make it a fantastic addition to any collection focused on Schrade, Sheffield, or traditional stockman patterns.
