This 1978 Case XX USA 6292 Stockman is a handsome example of post-Vietnam American pocketknife craftsmanship. Featuring three versatile blades—clip point, spey, and sheepsfoot—this full-size Stockman pattern was made for work and built to last. The rich, dark brown jigged bone handles showcase subtle lighter streaks, flanked by nickel silver bolsters and the traditional CASE oval shield. This is a timeless American tool with rock-solid snap and a confident hand-feel.
The two-dot tang stamp dates this knife precisely to 1978—a time when Case was still using true carbon steel and producing knives with workingmen in mind. Whether you’re a collector, ranch hand, or simply someone who appreciates a quality slipjoint, this 6292 is ready to serve.

📜 Historical Note
The 6292 Stockman has long been one of Case's flagship working knives, with roots reaching back to the early 20th century. The late 1970s represented the tail end of an era when Case was still family-owned, and their knives were widely considered among the best working folders in the world. The “two-dot” system introduced in 1970 helps date this one precisely to 1978.
🧭 Collector’s Note
Case’s XX-era knives—especially those made in the 1970s with carbon steel blades—remain highly collectible. This 6292 is an ideal addition to any Case collection, but it’s also ready to ride in your pocket for another generation of daily carry.
