This vintage Camillus pocket knife is a compact, well-built example of American postwar craftsmanship. Made between 1946–1950, it carries the distinctive short underline tang stamp beneath “Camillus,” a detail used by collectors to identify this early postwar era. The knife features a classic two-blade jack configuration, with a clip point and a pen blade, housed in jigged brown Delrin handles with nickel silver bolsters and a federal shield inlay. At just 3 3/8" closed, it’s a perfect carry size while remaining sturdy and reliable.

Condition
Both blades are tight with excellent snap open and shut. Surfaces show age patina, wear and light pitting consistent with a knife of this era. There is also some pitting along the leaf springs (see photos). The handles remain solid and free of cracks, with pins, shield, and bolsters intact. This knife ships wrapped in acid-free archival tissue to help preserve both the blade and handle during transit and storage.

Historical Note
Camillus was one of the largest and most respected cutlery companies in the U.S., producing millions of knives through both World Wars and into the 20th century. The short underline tang stamp places this piece firmly in the immediate post-WWII years (1946–1950), a period when Camillus was transitioning production back to civilian markets after supplying the U.S. military. This makes the knife an appealing relic of American industry in the rebuilding years after the war.

Collector’s Note
Early postwar Camillus knives are increasingly valued among collectors for their solid workmanship and historic appeal. With its practical two-blade jack design, shield inlay, and verified short-underline tang stamp, this knife is a fine addition to any vintage cutlery collection or as a gift for enthusiasts of American knife history.
