This vintage Schrade Old Timer 340T Middleman is a compact, highly pocketable jack knife that carries all the charm and durability of the classic Old Timer line. Made in the USA during Schrade’s peak production years (1980s–1990s), this model was designed as the smaller counterpart to the 33OT and 330T—ideal for everyday carry while still offering genuine working-knife capability.
The sawcut brown Delrin handles show off Schrade’s iconic mid-century style, complete with nickel silver bolsters and the Old Timer nameplate. Both blades—a clip blade and a pen blade—remain clean with crisp edges, strong snap, and bright steel. The craftsmanship is tight throughout, with well-fitted handles and solid spring tension.
Included is the original Old Timer box and paperwork, both showing noticeable wear, creasing, and aging from long-term storage. Though worn, the packaging adds collectible value and confirms the knife’s authenticity. The knife itself appears in very good to excellent condition, clearly far better preserved than its box.
At only 2¾" closed, the 340T is one of the most portable Old Timer patterns ever produced—perfect for a pocket, coin pouch, or small EDC kit.

📜 Historical Note:
The Old Timer 340T was introduced as a downsized, highly convenient two-blade jack knife for everyday tasks. Manufactured in the USA prior to Schrade’s 2004 factory closure, this pattern represents the era when Old Timer knives were built tough and meant to last a lifetime—marketed as “Knives Like Grandad’s.” The 340T is less common than its larger siblings, making surviving examples with original packaging especially desirable.
🧲 Collector’s Note:
USA-made Schrade knives have become increasingly collectible since the company’s closure. The 340T’s small size and traditional styling make it a favorite for Old Timer enthusiasts and EDC collectors alike. Its excellent condition paired with its original (though worn) packaging makes this a standout example—an ideal addition to a Schrade collection or a thoughtful gift for fans of traditional American pocketknives.
