Historical Note

Colonial Knife Co. operated out of Providence, Rhode Island, and was a major American cutlery producer throughout the mid-20th century. Known for offering well-made knives at accessible prices, Colonial produced a wide range of utilitarian and gentleman’s patterns that emphasized function, portability, and durability. Small personal knives like this were especially popular during the post-war era, when compact everyday tools were a staple of daily life.

Collector’s Note

Small gentleman’s knives are often overlooked, but examples like this stand out for their excellent condition, practical blade combination, and classic American manufacture. Its compact size, file blade, and clean presentation make it an appealing piece for collectors of Colonial knives, vintage keychain knives, or refined everyday carry patterns.
