This vintage canoe-pattern pocket knife was produced by H. Böker & Co. in Solingen, Germany, during the post-war revival of traditional German cutlery. Featuring classic carbon steel blades and jigged bone handles, this knife reflects Böker’s return to export craftsmanship in the mid-20th century, when Solingen once again became a global center for fine knives.

The balanced canoe profile, paired blades, and understated shield make this a timeless and highly functional pattern, equally suited for display or careful use. Its honest patina and solid snap speak to decades of service and quality construction.

This knife ships wrapped in acid-free archival tissue to help preserve both the blade and handle during transit and storage.

Historical Note

Following World War II, Solingen cutlers gradually resumed international exports. The reappearance of the umlauted “ö” in Böker tang stamps marks this renewed period of German identity and craftsmanship. Canoe patterns like this were popular among working professionals and outdoorsmen for their symmetry, strength, and pocket-friendly profile.

Collector’s Note

Post-war Böker knives with bone handles and carbon steel blades are increasingly sought after as earlier pre-war examples become scarce. This canoe represents a transitional era where traditional materials and hand-finished quality were still central to Böker’s production.
