Shipping to United States: $7.95

This vintage Union Cut Co. jack knife, stamped “Union Cut Co. Olean NY”, represents early American pocketknife craftsmanship from one of the most important names in U.S. cutlery history. Measuring 3 3/8 inches closed, this two-blade jack is compact, well-balanced, and built with the kind of materials and fit that defined pre-war production.

The knife features beautifully aged ebony wood handles, smooth and dark with subtle character developed over decades of handling. Paired with nickel silver bolsters and steel pins, the presentation is understated and purposeful—exactly what Union Cut was known for before becoming the backbone of Case Cutlery.

Both blades remain tight in the frame, opening and closing with strong, confident snap, and show honest patina consistent with age rather than abuse.

Historical Note

Union Cutlery Company of Olean, New York operated from 1911 until 1940, when it was fully absorbed into what became Case XX. Many of the patterns, tooling, and workforce behind early Case knives originated at Union Cut, making knives stamped Union Cut Co. Olean NY historically significant to collectors of American cutlery.

Ebony-handled examples were typically positioned as higher-grade offerings, favored for their durability, moisture resistance, and refined appearance.

Collector’s Note

This example stands out for its tight blades, clean stamp, and classic proportions, making it a strong addition to a collection focused on early American pocketknives or Case lineage pieces.
